第11回：建てる（１）
2018年に当院に就任した時の記念講演の中で職員の皆さんに約束したことがあった。“新病院建設”である。新病院建設に向けて最大限の努力をしたがそれでも着工まで5年かかった。3年間のコロナ禍の影響で計画が遅れたわけではなく、新病院を建てることの難しさを改めて痛感した5年間であった。新病院は最低30年間使用可能で、地域のインフラとしても愛されるものでなければならない。自分がいないであろう30年後の未来に思いをはせる。緑視率・個室率が高く、災害に強く、最先端の医療機器を備え、自然エネルギーを採用し、交通の便がよく、ネットワーク環境が整備され…..などと考えると途方もない建設費になってしまう。決算報告書を見ながらため息をつく日々であった。ロシアとウクライナとの戦争という予想もしないことも発生した。建設費は高騰し、着工の延期も頭をよぎったが予定通りの建設計画とした。ロシアの影響で当院の事業が遅滞することに納得がいかなかったからだ。
さて新病院は“札幌リードタウン平岸ベース”という再開発地域に建設される。病院は地上7階で延床面積は13000㎡になる。1-2階が救急・診断・手術室などのスペースで3-6階までが病室になる。7階には藻岩山が見渡せる職員食堂が配置される。病院の横には約3500㎡の緑地も所有する。周囲には大型マンションや多くの戸建てがあり、全世代が楽しめるようなスペースを提供したい。
2023年4月12日に地鎮祭が行われ、翌日から整地が行われる予定である。無事に竣工を迎えたい。

Episode 11: Construct(1)
I made a promise to all the staff in the commemorative lecture when I took office in Kashiwaba Neurosurgical Hospital in 2018.
It is “new hospital construction”.
Despite our best efforts to build a new hospital, it still took five years to start construction.
It wasn't that the plan was delayed due to the impact of the three-year corona disaster, but that five years were a reminder of the difficulty of building a new hospital.
The new hospital must be usable for at least 30 years and must be loved by the community as a lifeline infrastructure.
I think about the future 30 years from now when I won't be here.
I imagine the hospital with high green visibility, high private room ratio, resistance to disasters, the latest medical equipment, use of natural energy, good transportation access, modern network environment, etc., and all add up to tremendous construction costs. I deeply sighed while looking at the financial statements, day after day. There was also an unexpected war with Russia and Ukraine. Construction costs soared, and we considered postponing the start of construction, but decided to go ahead with the construction plan. I couldn't accept the fact that the project of our hospital was delayed due to the influence of Russia.
The new hospital will be built in a redevelopment area called “Sapporo Lead Town Hiragishi Base”. The hospital will have seven floors above ground and a total floor area of 13,000m2.
The 1st and 2nd floors are spaces for emergency, diagnostic, and operating rooms, and the 3rd to 6th floors are hospital rooms. On the 7th floor, there is a staff cafeteria overlooking Mt. Moiwa. It also owns about 3500m2 of green space next to the hospital.There are large apartments and many detached houses in the surrounding area, and we want to provide a space that all generations can enjoy.
A ground-breaking ceremony will be held on April 12, 2023, and ground leveling will begin the next day.
I hope the construction to be completed safely.
